Sustainable fishing, climate change among issues aired at trade and environment committee

At the 20 June meeting of the Committee on Trade and Environment, several WTO members highlighted the importance of global efforts to better manage the world’s oceans and marine resources, to address illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and to negotiate an outcome on fisheries subsidies at the upcoming WTO Ministerial Conference in December. Members were also briefed on climate change discussions at the United Nations and efforts for climate action.
