Kersha Roderick and CARICOM BOOST: Growing Together, Thriving Together!

27 Jan 2026

On a bright Grenadian morning, Farmer Kersha Roderick can be found walking through her fields with a smile that says it all: this is more than farming; it is a mission.

Kersha’s story is one of vision and determination. With the support of the CARICOM BOOST: Women and Youth in Agriculture Project, she is turning her farm into a model of innovation. New shade houses protecting tender crops from the Caribbean sun. A solar-powered cold storage facility hums quietly, ensuring that fresh produce stays crisp and ready for families across Grenada.

But the heart of Kersha’s journey lies beyond her own land. She believes farming is strongest when it is shared. That is why Kersha is building a farming cooperative, bringing together fellow farmers to grow, learn, and thrive side by side.

“The BOOST programme will help me produce more, and together with my friends and colleagues, we intend to build something sustainable that provides income and promotes locally grown, healthy food,” shared Kersha. “We are working like a cooperative: selling, sharing income among ourselves, making profits, and expanding into other areas like poultry.”

Her dream is simple yet powerful: when one farmer succeeds, the whole community flourishes. The results are already taking root with more locally grown produce filling Grenadian kitchens, healthier food choices for families and stronger communities built on collaboration and trust.

“My aim is to promote more women in agriculture, to show that women can be farmers, that we can do it, and that it can become both a livelihood and a source of income. I would like for this programme to continue so that other women out there can benefit, and I encourage my colleagues and friends to make the most of this opportunity.”

Kersha’s path shows us that agriculture is not just about crops; it is about people, resilience, and the joy of rising together. Her story is a reminder that when we nurture each other, the harvest is always abundant.
