DG Azevêdo: Global trade challenges are best tackled through the multilateral system

The WTO should seek to bolster global economic cooperation in order to leave a strong and well-functioning trading system for future generations, said Director-General Roberto Azevêdo at an event organized in Geneva by the ICTSD and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung on “the future of the WTO and the role of the G20 economies”. “But it is also our responsibility to ensure that we do more to spread the benefits of trade … to create jobs and support growth and development,” he underlined.
