Closing Media Briefing | CARICOM Election Observation Mission to the General Election in Barbados | Thursday 12 February 2026 | 3:00 p.m.

The media is invited to attend the CEOM’s closing media briefing, where the Mission will share its observations on the conduct of the General Election held on 11 February 2026.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)- The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) supports democratic traditions in the Region by deploying election observation missions at the request of Member States. These missions provide an independent, impartial, and honest assessment of the preparations for and conduct of General Elections.
The CARICOM Election Observation Mission (CEOM) to Barbados comprises six members, led by Mr. Ian Hughes, Supervisor of Elections of Antigua and Barbuda. The role of the CARICOM Election Observation Mission (CEOM) is to observe the electoral process in Barbados, including the pre-election environment, preparations for the poll, the casting of votes, management of the polling stations, and the tabulation of results, with the objective of assessing transparency, fairness, and adherence to accepted democratic standards. The CEOM then makes recommendations to the host government and other stakeholders based on its findings.
The media is invited to attend the CEOM’s closing media briefing, where the Mission will share its observations on the conduct of the General Election held on 11 February 2026.
