(Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) – Assistant Secretary-General for Foreign and Community Relations at the CARICOM Secretariat, Ms Elizabeth Solomon, participated in the Pacific Peace and Security Dialogue held from 15-17 June 2026 in Fiji.
The Panel on Regional Cooperation in the Pacific and Beyond brought together senior representatives of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) to examine the role of regionalism in addressing contemporary global challenges and to share lessons from the experiences of regional integration in Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific.

Convened against a backdrop of increasing geopolitical uncertainty, the Dialogue considered how regional cooperation and integration can support resilience and sustainable development in an evolving global environment. Discussions focused on how regions can navigate shifting geopolitical dynamics, respond to climate change, strengthen collective security, and prepare for future challenges, while drawing on the unique experiences and strengths of their respective regional arrangements.
Ms. Solomon joined a panel comprising His Excellency Dr Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, and Mr. Esala Nayasi, Deputy Secretary-General for Strategic Policy and Programming at the Pacific Islands Forum.

The discussion was moderated by Professor Dave Peebles, Director of the Pacific Security College.
Participants explored the opportunities and challenges facing regional organisations and exchanged perspectives on strengthening regional cooperation, fostering resilience, and advancing the interests of their member states in an increasingly complex global landscape.
