Domestic FreightCLX Logistics Bahamas and DHL Express Bahamas have created a partnership designed to provide last-mile service for cargo to the Family Islands through an e-commerce platform called Domestic-Freight.com, a statement on the new initiative explains.

Domestic-Freight.com is CLX’s digital platform for quoting, booking, paying, and tracking inter-island cargo, bringing some efficiency and certainty to the movement of goods for the islands.

“This collaboration streamlines intra-Bahamas movements for residents, SMEs, resorts, clinics, and public agencies, while establishing a practical bridge that links family island shipments to global shipping services with greater predictability and transparency,” the statement explains.

According to the statement, the platforms will allow its users end-to-end quoting, booking, payment, and tracking through the system; predictable service windows through scheduled consolidations and dependable capacity aligned to island demand; and real-time tracking of goods, including proof of delivery.

The partnership with DHL also means shipping goods from the Family Islands to the rest of the world will become easier.

“Standardized documentation and handoffs that ease transitions to international services when required, provides seamless access to DHL’s extensive global network,” the statement said.

COO of CLX Ceri Howells said in the statement that Domestic-Freight.com will simplify inter-island logistics. He explained that technology is as the heart of changing the way Family Islanders now send and receive cargo.

“Pairing our technology and coastal network with DHL’s service standards is a decisive step toward making every day logistics simpler, faster, and more reliable, and toward connecting the Family Islands to the world through enhanced international shipping options,” said Howells.

This year, Howells and CLX assisted The Bahamas in diversifying its trade partners. Howells was involved in helping Super Value to bring eggs to The Bahamas from a new supplier in the Dominican Republic. Howells has also been working with the Bahamas Trade Commission on other trade diversification initiatives, including attempting to build trade routes between The Bahamas and the Caribbean.
