UNITED NATIONS, New York — 23rd, June 2016. UN Bahamas delegation led by Minister Khaalis Rolle discussing with USG for DESA plans for upcoming high level symposium on public service in implementation of‪ Agenda 2030, to be held in Bahamas February 21-23rd, 2017.

The theme will be the Symposium on Implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda in Small Island Developing States (SIDS): Equipping public institutions and mobilizing partnerships”.

Organized by the Government of the Bahamas, with the support of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) – This Symposium will reflect on how SIDS can integrate the 2030 Agenda and the SAMOA Pathway in national planning processes, policies, strategies and public institutions – along with other recent United Nations agreements — such as the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development and the Climate Change Agreement. The Symposium will place a special focus on how best to equip public institutions and mobilise partnerships and cooperation for realising the 2030 Agenda and other commitments. It will discuss options and innovative solutions for planning and policy making.
