Coffee’s cognitive benefits may act through the microbiota–gut–brain axis

New research published in Nature Communications shows that coffee consumption alters the gut microbiome and may influence cognition, mood, and behaviour through the microbiota–gut–brain axis. The study found that both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee affect brain function, immune response, inflammation, and beneficial gut bacteria, highlighting coffee’s role in mental health and metabolic health.
