CARIFORUM-European Union Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA): 10th Meeting of the Trade and Development Committee13 May 2024

CARIFORM EU EPAThe Bahamas as the current Chair of the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM) hosted the CARIFORUM-European Union Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) 10th Meeting of the Trade and Development Committee (TDC),  from the 23 to 25 April 2024 at the Warwick Paradise Island.  The Trade and Development Committee is the second highest Joint Institution under the EPA.  Its main functions include monitoring and evaluating the implementation of EPA commitments and taking steps to prevent or resolve disputes.

Mrs. Brickell Pinder, Director of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Economic Affairs chaired the meeting.  She was supported by Mrs. Alexis Downes-Amsterdam, Director General of CARIFORUM and specialist from the CARIFORUM Directorate as well as CARIFORUM senior government officials and representatives from The Bahamas Ministries of Economic Affairs, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Office of the Attorney General and Customs Department.  The European Commission delegation was led by Ms. Cristina Miranda Gozalvez, Head of Unit C1 (African, Caribbean and Pacific, Overseas Countries and Territories) European Union.

During the TDC, members agreed to the text of the Joint Report on Second Five-Year Review of the EPA (2015 to 2020) and the Decision Establishing the Special Committee on Services was signed.
