Air Canada will introduce new, nonstop flights<\/h3>\nAir Canada will introduce new, nonstop flights<\/h3>\nThe Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation (MOTIA) announced in a statement yesterday that Air Canada will introduce new, nonstop flights from Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW), and Halifax-Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), to Nassau\u2019s Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) this winter.<\/p>\n
The statement added that this summer, the airline will resume flights from Montr\u00e9al-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to LPIA.<\/p>\n
\u201cOperating every Friday, the Airbus A220 seasonal service will provide additional fast and convenient service to Nassau and Paradise Island,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAir Canada will continue to provide service from Toronto\u2019s Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Nassau\u2019s Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) six to seven times per week.<\/p>\n
\u201cAir Canada Vacations\u2019 flights from Toronto\u2019s Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to George Town, Exuma (GGT) are scheduled to resume on November 2025 through April 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation Chester Cooper said Air Canada has demonstrated its commitment to expanding its service to The Bahamas with these newly announced flights.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt also reflects the eagerness of Canadians to travel to The Bahamas,\u201d said Cooper.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to welcoming even more visitors from eastern Canada, to experience the warmth of our people, and the beauty and culture of our islands this summer, next fall, and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n
The MOTIA also revealed that Sunwing Vacations has announced that seasonal flights from Toronto to Grand Bahama International Airport (FPO) will be extended to year-round weekly service beginning this summer.<\/p>\n
It added that Sunwing will continue to operate its nonstop flights from Montr\u00e9al-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport to Grand Bahama International Airport (FPO) year round through weekly Saturday flights.<\/p>\n
MOTIA Director General Latia Duncombe said Canada is a \u201cpriority growth market\u201d for The Bahamas, noting that the extended service from Air Canada reflects that growth.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese enhanced routes from key Canadian cities strengthen our connectivity, improve accessibility, and support our broader strategy to drive year-round visitation across the islands,\u201d said Duncombe.<\/p>\n
The statement added: \u201cIn addition to the Montreal\/Nassau route this summer, Canadians can also opt for the nonstop charter offered by Club Med [every Tuesday through 29 July], to experience their all-inclusive Columbus Isle Resort on San Salvador.\u201d<\/p>\n
Travel site Travel and Tour World (TTW) said in a recent article that political tensions between the US and Canada have shrunk Canadian\u2019s appetite for US travel, sparking renewed interest in countries like The Bahamas and other warm-weather destinations.<\/p>\n
TTW said data from customs and airline sources confirm the downturn.<\/p>\n
