{"id":5452,"date":"2017-12-20T14:47:14","date_gmt":"2017-12-20T14:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamastradeinfo.gov.bs\/buy\/?p=5452"},"modified":"2017-12-21T14:49:46","modified_gmt":"2017-12-21T14:49:46","slug":"5452","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamastradeinfo.gov.bs\/buy\/2017\/12\/20\/5452\/","title":{"rendered":"Exports from Bahamas rise 29 percent, IDB says"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The Bahamas was able to reverse negative trade trends in 2017<\/h3>\n<p>A recent Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) publication revealed that global exports from The Bahamas grew by 29 percent this year, when compared to last year\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-64746\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamastradeinfo.gov.bs\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IDB-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"Inter American Development Bank Logo\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" \/>The report, titled \u201cTrade Trends Estimates Latin America and the Caribbean 2018 Edition\u201d, showed that\u00a0The Bahamas was one of 18 countries in the region to reverse negative trade trends in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, Latin American and Caribbean exports grew at an estimated year-on-year rate of 13 per cent in 2017, following a 3.3. per cent decline in 2016.<\/p>\n<h3>The Bahamas&#8217; exports to countries in the European Union grew \u201cstrongly\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>This year\u2019s improvement for The Bahamas was hinged on a 23 percent sales increase to the United States. In addition, exports to countries in the European Union grew \u201cstrongly\u201d by 66 percent and represented one fourth of the growth.<\/p>\n<p>Exports to the Caribbean, on the other hand, fell by 59 percent.
